Hi everyone,
I found myself reflecting today on how different life feels compared to a year ago.
Around this time last year, I entered a painting into the Singing River Art Association show—mostly just for the experience. It was a last-minute decision, and if I’m honest, I felt like a complete imposter. But I had made a quiet decision to take my art seriously, and I knew that meant stepping out, even when it felt uncomfortable.
To my surprise, that piece won an award.
It wasn’t about the award—but it gave me just enough confidence to keep going.
Since then, I’ve joined three galleries and recently received a second award. There are moments when I feel so grateful it almost overwhelms me. Truly, this journey hasn’t been mine alone. So many of you have shaped it in ways you may not even realize.
Some of you purchased a painting at a time when I was quietly questioning whether I should keep going. Some of you offered a kind word or encouragement that carried more weight than you knew. Those moments mattered. They still do.
I’m learning—slowly—to make art I love, for myself. That’s not always an easy place to find or remain in, but it’s where the truest work comes from.
So, thank you.
Really… thank you.
I also want to do a better job of staying connected here—sharing new work and letting you know where I’ll be.
With that in mind, I’d love to invite you to an upcoming show:
Singing River Art Association Spring Show Opening Reception
Friday, April 24 | 4–6 PM
River Art Gallery | Pascagoula, MS
I’ll have two pieces in the show, and it would mean so much to see you there. There will be food, wine, and of course—beautiful art.
With gratitude,
Toni
