A year later… and a heartfelt thank you

Hi everyone,

I found myself reflecting today on how different life feels compared to a year ago.

Around this time last year, I entered a painting into the Singing River Art Association show—mostly just for the experience. It was a last-minute decision, and if I’m honest, I felt like a complete imposter. But I had made a quiet decision to take my art seriously, and I knew that meant stepping out, even when it felt uncomfortable.

To my surprise, that piece won an award.

It wasn’t about the award—but it gave me just enough confidence to keep going.

Since then, I’ve joined three galleries and recently received a second award. There are moments when I feel so grateful it almost overwhelms me. Truly, this journey hasn’t been mine alone. So many of you have shaped it in ways you may not even realize.

Some of you purchased a painting at a time when I was quietly questioning whether I should keep going. Some of you offered a kind word or encouragement that carried more weight than you knew. Those moments mattered. They still do.

I’m learning—slowly—to make art I love, for myself. That’s not always an easy place to find or remain in, but it’s where the truest work comes from.

So, thank you.
Really… thank you.

I also want to do a better job of staying connected here—sharing new work and letting you know where I’ll be.

With that in mind, I’d love to invite you to an upcoming show:

Singing River Art Association Spring Show Opening Reception
Friday, April 24 | 4–6 PM
River Art Gallery | Pascagoula, MS

I’ll have two pieces in the show, and it would mean so much to see you there. There will be food, wine, and of course—beautiful art.

With gratitude,
Toni

Daydream Dust

I recently joined two local art associations.. as an introvert, this was totally out of my comfort zone. But, everyone has been so nice and I have throughly enjoyed it! One of them, the Singing River Art Association recently had their spring show. They made it sound like fun, so I decided to enter. I thought it would be a great experience and would help get me out there a little more. I was shocked when I got the phone call that one of my paintings had won an award. “Daydream Dust” won the Excellence in Abstract” award. I absolutely couldn’t believe it. It was an incredible feeling. It certainly isn’t about winning, as art is very subjective, but what a confidence boost!! I love to paint! I’m totally obsessed with color palettes, texture and expressing myself through art so this award meant a lot to me.

The show is over and now I’m making this painting available to you. I truly appreciate everyone who has been on this art journey with me encouraging and supporting me along the way! Sometimes, your daydreams really do come true and it feels magical! Whatever you are thinking of doing in life, put your doubts and fears aside and just go for it!

“It’s all about the color palette.  The pinks, aquas, hints of blues and gold play nice with each other. Looking at it makes me feel like I’m tasting ice cream while chewing bubble gum.”

Wild Things

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?” – Matthew 6:30 MSG

I think we could learn a lot from nature. We hustle and strive for many things and become so uptight and miserable. Instead of all that chasing wouldn’t it be nice to trust that God cares for us more than He does the wildflowers. Wouldn’t it be lovely to live lightly and freely?

I absolutely love this one! It makes me feel free and light.
